Cleaning Eyes

Hi, The eyes on a Pre Mattel doll seem slow. They open and close just slowly. Does anybody know why this might happen? Also, is there a safe way to clean their eyes?

Yes, I am also interested in, can you clean the eyes? Maybe alchol (sp) on a Q-Tip?

The times I have cleaned sleep eyes on dolls I have used Windex or glasses cleaner on q-tips, BUT you want to squeeze all of the liquid out... I mean use a barely damp q-tip. Moisture is usually not good for sleep eyes.

Prepare two or 3 q-tips with the Windex. Go over each eye one time with each q-tip. First clean the iris area and the open eye surface. Be gentle.

Next, clean the eye lid. Be sure to clean the socket around the eye lid too, as far as your q-tip can reach. A tooth pick is sometimes helpful for removing small bits of lint around the eye that the q-tip can not quite reach. Pay careful attention to the inner and outer edges of the eye socket. Sometimes just a tiny bit of lint or grime there can slow down the sleep-eye movement, causing the eye to stick a little.

Use the q-tip to stroke down the lashes from top to bottom to clean them and restore their shine. If you see too much dust or lint on the lashes, use a soft cotton cloth to wipe them, again from top to bottom.
If any lint remains on the lashes, take a small piece of scotch tape and wrap it, sticky side out, around your index finger. Gently tap the lashes with the tape until the lint is gone.

With the eyes open, recheck the lashes for any lint you might need to remove with the tape.

In no time your doll will have sparkling clean eyes.
